No One Gets To Decide Your Worth. Not Even You.

No One Gets To Decide Your Worth. Not Even You.

In a world where messages from Hollywood, media, and society emphasize external qualities—weight, beauty, youth—it’s easy to feel measured by standards that change with every passing trend. The pressure to look a certain way, to conform to ideals that are often unattainable, can leave us questioning our worth. But here’s the truth: no one, not Hollywood, not society, and not even your own self-judgment, gets to define your worth.

Your value is not contingent on a number on a scale or the way you look in the mirror. You are worthy because you are a child of God, made in His image, and that is all that truly matters. The world’s standards of beauty and worth are fleeting and subjective, but God’s view of you is steadfast and eternal. He sees your heart, your spirit, and the unique light you bring into the world.

We often forget this when we allow external voices to overpower the truth within us. We give too much weight to what others say and too little to what God has already declared: you are loved, chosen, and enough just as you are. It’s time to reclaim that truth and remind ourselves that we don’t need validation from the outside world or even from the inner critic that whispers doubts into our minds.

So, how do we silence those voices and anchor ourselves in what truly matters? Start by taking moments each day to remind yourself of your inherent value. This might mean spending quiet time in reflection or prayer, surrounding yourself with people who uplift you, or simply repeating affirmations that reinforce God’s truth about who you are. When the noise of the world grows loud, ground yourself in the knowledge that your worth is unwavering and does not change with age, appearance, or circumstance.

Remember, you don’t have to earn your worth—it’s already yours. Embrace it. Hold onto it. And let it guide you as you navigate life’s ups and downs, knowing that your value is beyond measure because it comes from the One who made you.

Psalm 139:13-18

13For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
    How vast is the sum of them!

18 Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand—
    when I awake, I am still with you.
