Real Beauty Comes from Within

Real Beauty Comes from Within

Out of curiosity, how many of you truly love your body? As we age, we tend to be more critical of ourselves, yet our bodies have carried and sustained us for 40 or 50 years. When we were children, we didn’t despise our bodies. So why do we now allow others to define what is or isn’t beautiful?

Real beauty emanates from the inside. I’ve seen people who, on the outside, were conventionally attractive, but their negative attitudes or unkindness marred that outward appearance. On the other hand, I’ve witnessed individuals who society might consider plain, yet their inner beauty radiated so strongly that their faces seemed to glow, drawing people to their goodness.

So, what do people see when they look at you? Do they see grace and kindness that draws them in, or has life’s bitterness crept in, driving others away? Has life made you bitter or better?

I want the trials I’ve faced to make me better, so I can, in turn, help others. I want to keep a soft heart, even in a world that often feels harsh. It’s a delicate balance—we need to be strong and wise on the outside but soft and compassionate on the inside, both toward God and others.

Real beauty lies in who you are, not in your outward appearance. Think about the truly beautiful people in your life. I bet you didn’t picture anyone from Hollywood. You likely thought of those you can count on, who are there for you in tough times, who extend grace and lend a hand when you’re struggling. These are the truly beautiful people. Today, let’s aim to be beautiful to those around us.
