From Doubt to Faith: Entering the ‘Promised Land’ of Your Life

From Doubt to Faith: Entering the ‘Promised Land’ of Your Life

Most of us know the story of Moses, Pharaoh, and the deliverance of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. After finally letting the Israelites go, Pharaoh changed his mind and pursued them. God then parted the Red Sea, allowing the Israelites to cross on dry land while the pursuing Egyptians perished in the waters. From there, the journey to the Promised Land should have been a short one. But time and again, despite God’s faithful provision, the Israelites doubted His goodness and care.

I’ve read this story many times, but today, something new stood out. In Psalm 106:24-25, in the New Living Translation, it says, “The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe His promise to care for them. Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.”

Wow—the people refused to enter the land of plenty! I always thought God just didn’t allow them to enter, but this verse reveals that they actually chose not to go in.

This realization made me pause. Are there parts of my own life where I, too, am “refusing to enter the pleasant land”? Where am I struggling to believe God, choosing instead to grumble about my circumstances?

God has never let me down before. So why can’t I trust Him fully with every area of my life? If I truly believe He has good plans for me, (Jeremiah 29:11), why don’t I live like it? Why do I insist on trying to make things happen on my own instead of surrendering everything to His care?

Think about this: Where might you be hesitating to step into the “Promised Land” in your own life? Is there something God is asking you to do—or perhaps to let go of? Consider where you might be holding back and how you might trust Him more deeply today.
