Love Yourself Enough

Love yourself enough….

I was about to leave the gym this morning and was lamenting to a few ladies about what I would eat that day. Turns out, that only eating a banana for breakfast, leftovers for lunch, and a few almond flour crackers with cheese for dinner is not a wholesome diet. Now, I work hard. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week. But you know what I don’t do? I don’t eat well. I eat healthy, but not well. I was telling the nutritionist that when my children are in town, I cook and eat well, but when it’s just me, it doesn’t matter - I eat what I can find. And then bam! Someone said, “Love yourself enough to eat well.”

It hit me like a ton of bricks. What don’t we do because we don’t love ourselves enough? For me it was eating well. What is it for you? Is it going to the gym, having that hard conversation with a friend, being able to set boundaries, say “NO” and stick by it?

Loving ourselves is not easy. Do you know why? Because we know ourselves. We know all of our faults and shortcomings. And we judge ourselves harshly. Start to see yourself as God sees you. Let go of the anger you have toward yourself and realize that you are enough. We are all flawed but forgiven.
