Preparation Time is not Wasted Time
Preparation time is not wasted time
Do you ever feel frustrated with where you are in life? Do you feel like there has to be more? You KNOW it inside of your bones, but you just aren’t sure of what it is. Me too! While that frustration still lingers for me at times, I’ve been learning how to embrace the season of preparation.
Have you ever had a painting project? Perhaps during the lockdown you thought you could and should repaint your house? What I learned during our Covid projects, was that the preparation was the most important part. If I did not properly prepare the surface, the paint would not look good, it would not stick correctly, and all of our effort would have been wasted. Now, I’ll be honest. I hate the prep work of painting, but that is the foundation for a good outcome. The same is true in our lives. Without a period of preparation, we wouldn’t be ready to accomplish the things we are meant to do. I get tied of waiting, we all do. But when we start to see this season as essential to future success rather than a period of stagnation, our perspective shifts.
Think about this too - Right after Jesus was baptized and God called him His son, Jesus was led into the desert to be tempted. Do you recall what David did right after he was anointed to be king? He went back to tending sheep! God has called you, there is no question about that. But He has to prepare you for what’s ahead. The challenges you face now are shaping you into the person you need to become in order to fulfill all that He has in store for you.
Embrace this time. It’s not wasted—it’s laying the groundwork for your future.
