Finding Strength When the Waves Keep Coming
Finding Strength When the Waves Keep Coming
Life doesn’t necessarily get easier, but we do get stronger.
How many times have you faced a crisis, breathed a sigh of relief when it was over, only to have something else happen almost immediately? Sometimes life can feel like ocean waves, crashing over us relentlessly. There are moments in the ocean of life where we welcome what’s coming—gentle waves that refresh and are easy to handle. But then, there are those waves that knock us off our feet. And just when we think we’ve regained our balance, another one hits.
So how do we find relief? How do we breathe when the waves don’t seem to stop?
The answer lies in shifting our focus. Take your eyes off the problem. You can’t control the storm, and focusing on it only gives it more power. Instead, turn your attention to the One who is in control. Worship Him, and be grateful for what you have—even the small, everyday blessings.
Take a moment to thank God for the little things: your eyesight, your ability to hear, smell, and taste. Your legs that carry you. The car that gets you where you need to go. The freedom you enjoy. When we focus on these blessings, something remarkable happens: our mindset shifts. The circumstances may not change, but the way we approach them does. And that makes all the difference.
In the midst of your most challenging moments, I encourage you to pause and reflect on what you’re grateful for. You may be surprised at the impact it has on your heart and your strength.
