What Will Happen if you Don’t?

What will happen if you don’t?

When I was thinking about starting my blog, I was contemplating how I would write everyday and still go to work, the gym, and juggle all of my other responsibilities. While all of those things were legitimate, the most daunting part was being vulnerable and wondering what other people would think. In the middle of my angst, a friend of mine gently asked me, “What will happen if you don’t? In twenty years you will be seventy. Look back at your life from that vantage point. If you never blogged, if you never tried to use your voice to help others, how do you feel?”

In that moment I could literally feel sensations of sadness and grief flooding over me, almost enough to bring me to tears.

I knew I would be disappointed in myself, unfulfilled and that something would be missing. At that moment I decided that I had to blog. I had to do what I believed God was calling me to do. If I’m wrong, that’s okay. At least I would have tried. I would rather try and fail than live with the regret of not trying.

What is God asking you to do? When you lay your head down at night, what do you lay awake dreaming you could do? In your moments of stillness, what does your heart whisper?

Maybe it won’t go like you planned, maybe it will even be better, or maybe it won’t go well at all.

But….. What will happen if you don’t?
