Let Go of the Trapeze

Let go of the Trapeze

Change. Is. Hard. I was thinking about letting go of the past and honestly, I don’t want to let go. My old way of doing things is familiar, easy, comfortable. But is it serving me well? Is it propelling me to the future I want? I thought about the analogy of a trapeze artist. As they swing from one bar to the next, they have to let go of one in order to catch the next one. They cannot grab the next bar, unless they completely let go of the security of the one they are holding on to. They fly through the air, not holding onto anything. They have to have faith that the next bar is swinging toward them or they won’t have the confidence to let go. It’s the same in our lives. We have to let go of what is in our hand before we can grasp the next thing God has for us. Letting go of our security is hard. Sometimes it feels like we are free falling, but the next bar for us to grab is coming, even if we don’t see it yet.

Navigating Imperfection: Embracing Purpose Amidst Weakness

Recently, a line in the movie Cabrini struck a chord: "We can serve our weakness or we can serve our purpose. Not both." This simple statement sparked a journey of reflection on the delicate dance between our vulnerabilities and our calling.

We all face weaknesses—whether physical, emotional, or mental. They're part of being human. But within these vulnerabilities lies a choice that shapes our lives: Will we let our weaknesses define us, holding us back? Or will we find the courage to grow through them, using them as fuel for resilience?

At the core of this exploration is the acknowledgment of our inherent value and unique design. Each of us is a complex tapestry of strengths and weaknesses, shaped by experiences and aspirations. It's within this complexity that the journey of overcoming begins.

Being an overcomer isn't about avoiding challenges; it's about facing them head-on, using setbacks as stepping stones toward personal growth. Every stumble, every obstacle, carries within it the potential for growth and transformation—if we're willing to embrace it.

Embedded within our being is a profound sense of purpose—a whisper from God that urges us to rise above our limitations and make a difference in the world. Yet, too often, we let our weaknesses overshadow our potential, succumbing to doubt and resignation.

But what if we reframed our perspective? What if we saw our weaknesses not as roadblocks, but as opportunities for growth? What if we embraced imperfection as an essential part of our journey toward fulfilment?

Today, I invite you to ponder: What will you serve—your weakness or your purpose? Will you let fear and doubt dictate your path, or will you embrace the fullness of your potential?

Remember, your purpose isn’t a destination. Your purpose is made in your daily choices - in how you make others feel, in small acts of kindness, and in taking the very next step in your own personal growth.

Embrace your imperfections as part of your story. Embrace your purpose as your guiding light. And above all, embrace the truth that within you lies the power to overcome, to thrive, and to make a difference in the world.
